Machinist Hammer Video

As part of my minor in Integrated Design Media (IDM) at NYU I manufactured a machinist hammer, as well as shot and edited an accompanying video

The Hammer was designed using Autodesk Fusion 360 and was manufactured using the Tormach 8L Lathe alongside a Tormach PCNC 440 Mill.

The Hammer was made of 6061 aluminum, an assortment of carbide insert tooling, HSS drills, and HSS flat end mills were used to shape the hammer’s features

Although I did not ultimately finish the machinist hammer to completion, The manufacturing of the hammer was a great excuse to gain more experience using CNC machinery as well as learning new manufacturing techniques. In the future I’d like to come back to this project and re-design a more compact version of the hammer
